Cades Cove Preservation Association
The Cades Cove Preservation Assotiation (CCPA) has published a book: "Homes of Cades Cove then and now"
that shows a map of Cades Cove with locations of homes prior to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
The data were compiled by Francis G Perey and Mike Gourley.
The book gives the GPS coordinates of 115 homes, of which only 7 survive ( John Oliver, Elijah Oliver, Becky
Cable, Henry Whitehead, Peter Cable, Topton-Oliver, and Carter Shields), the other ones having been destroyed.
In addition the book shows pictures of the sites where the homes were in the 2010's, as well as pictures of the homes
and associated buildings prior to their destruction. Unfortunately we do not have pictures of all the sites prior to
their destrucion by the park.
To give you an idea of what to expect from this book we show some examples:
Samuel Roberts - "Little" Dan Myers
George Drake Oliver - Crawford Oliver
The book can be obtained from the Cades Cove Museum, 1004 East Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TN
Cost: $37.50 plus tax
