While in Lebanon we stayed at the Automobile et Touring Club Marina in Juniyeh, just North of Beirut in the Christian Zone. As far as we knew the only place you could land and stay in Lebanon and it could well be still the only place. While there 5 different militias controlled Lebanon.

We were welcomed with open arms at the marina. Visiting yacht could stay there free for two weeks, after that the cost increased every week. There might have been a dozen foreign boats in the marina. The cruisers on the Mexican boat next to us had rented a car for a week and were turning it in when we arrived. Since they had experienced no problems and traveling by private car was the only means of transportation, we rented it for a week. Although advised by the rental company to avoid the South of Lebanon and the Bekaa valley we went!!
